CROSSROADS CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP

Crossroads is a ministry of Vinewood CFC Berkeley that is a student-led Christian fellowship on the UC Berkeley campus. The college fellowship is overseen by Crossroads Adult Leaders and student-led Crossroads Council. We meet on Friday nights at 7:30pm at the YWCA Bancroft to worship, study the Word, and socialize with followers of Christ. We also offer weekly small groups to nurture personal spiritual growth.

mission

Crossroads exists as an arm of CFC Berkeley to engage college students at UC Berkeley with the Word of God: for the unsaved, to proclaim the gospel unto saving faith; and for the saved, to preach and teach the Word unto maturity of faith. Accordingly, every work of ministry we do, from large group meetings to social events, needs to serve those chief ends.

Worship

“The inner essence of worship is to know God truly and then respond from the heart to that knowledge by valuing God, treasuring God, prizing God, enjoying God, being satisfied with God above all earthly things. And then that deep, restful, joyful satisfaction in God overflows in demonstrable acts of praise from the lips and demonstrable acts of love in serving others for the sake of Christ”

- John Piper

Musical worship is one avenue through which believers are called to worship God. We are charged with the privilege of responding to who God is and what He has done with genuine, musical praise (Psalm 33:1-3). We are also commanded to encourage one another through the singing of spiritual, truth-filled songs (Colossians 3:16).

As such, the purpose of the musical worship ministry is to facilitate both melodious praise and songful encouragement. This ministry aims to faithfully use music to reinforce truths learned through the preaching and studying of God’s Word. This ministry also strives to equip believers with “songs for the road” – songs they can carry in their hearts throughout daily life that point them to Christ.

Our worship ministry leads praise on Friday night large groups. Please contact Elaine Guo for more info.

Prayer

“And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever — the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.”

(John 14:16-17)

The purpose of prayer in a believer’s life is to enter confidently (Heb. 4:16) and humbly (1 Pet. 5:6-7, Jas. 4:10) into God’s presence to know Him (John 17:3), talk to Him (Ps. 102:17), and ultimately enjoy Him (1 Pet. 1:8). Prayer ministry exists to provide a safe, open space for private and corporate prayer, and also serves to increase the body’s understanding of the meaning, attitude, and methodology of/towards prayer.

Prayer meetings typically happen on 8PM PST on Sundays. Please contact Alex Park for more info

Small Groups

Small group ministry seeks to make Christ and His love known through the growth in knowledge of the Word and the modeling of His love to one another. Small groups serve as a sowing ground for deep friendships in Christ so that members seek to spur one another to revere and cherish God above all else.

MEN’S SMALL GROUP

God commands us to love one another (John 13:34, Romans 12:10). The best way to love is to push each other closer to God through: attentively listening to and praying for each other (James 5:16), encouraging each other towards love and good deeds (Hebrews 10:24), gently rebuking each other when necessary and turning our brothers away from sin (1 Timothy 5:20).

Men’s small group is an entry point for men to engage in everyday friendship and discipleship through the application of scripture study.

Please contact Allen Cao for more info.

Women’s Small Group

Women’s ministry exists for the salvation of souls, loving one another, and growing in Christ.

We seek to accomplish these things through small groups that meet weekly to go over a passage in Scripture. Outside of these meetings, small group leaders will meet 1-on-1 with all members of their group, to get to know them and learn how best to care for them.

Please contact Reba Sy for more info.

Bible Study

In order to glorify God, we must know His character and what His will is. To enjoy Him, we must surely know what He has done, and what He will do! In sum, Bible Study exists as a means for this: knowing God!

The Bible study ministry’s mission is to grow in our knowledge of God through the communal study of the Word so that the believer and non-believer may come to cherish God and grow in their conviction of the transformative power of His Word.

Please contact Zoë Chan for more info.

HOPE

“And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.”

(Hebrews 10:24-25)

The purpose of the HOPE Ministry is twofold: to foster closer relationships between Crossroaders so that they can support one another as they pursue God (Inreach, Hebrews 10:24-25), and to build up the evangelical abilities of Crossroaders in order to bring the Gospel to unbelievers (Outreach, Matthew 28:19-20).
